The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) recognizes and supports high school students who demonstrate outstanding commitment to the visual arts. The organization encourages members to uphold the highest standards of artistic scholarship, character, service, and leadership. Through participation in NAHS, students gain opportunities to develop their artistic voice, collaborate with peers, and contribute meaningfully to their school and community.

Membership provides students with avenues for peer recognitionleadership development, and community engagement through exhibitions, service projects, and collaborative art initiatives. NAHS also offers resources and experiences that support college and career preparation, helping students build strong portfolios, connect with creative fields, and understand the value of the arts in society.

By celebrating artistic achievement and promoting service through the arts, NAHS helps strengthen the presence and importance of art education within schools and the broader community.

The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School Marching Band is highly successful and competitive marching band that competes within the USBANDS circuit. The band has earned seven consecutive Massachusetts State Championships as well as four New England championships.

The marching band starts in the summer and rehearses Tuesday evenings in July so students have the opportunity to “try it out with no obligation to commit”. Students are asked to commit by August and the band holds their band camp the second week of August on the DY campus. Once the school year starts the band rehearses Tuesday Thursday evenings 6-9 and Saturdays. The competitive season begins in late September and the band competes throughout New England each Saturday. In addition to competitions, the band plays for home football games and various local parades. The DY Marching Band also has a rich tradition of travel. In the past 20 years they have traveled to Ireland, Disney, Washington DC, and England.

All students are welcome to participate and no experience is necessary. Students may participate in both a fall sport and the marching band, with the permission of the coach and the director. While there is no user fee there are fund raising requirements.

    Dy Coders Club Description

📱 App Development for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Open to All Grades

    Club Profile:

This exciting, project-based after school club will empower students to become creators of technology by learning the fundamentals of mobile app development. Students will use a beginner-friendly, block-based coding platform (like Code.org) to design, code, and test functional apps that specifically promote and support key areas of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).

The group will focus on creating Apps that address social emotional topics at the middle school level.

Students will not only master core programming concepts—such as variables, loops, conditionals, and user interface design—but they will also apply these skills to solve real-world social and emotional challenges. Projects will focus on the five core SEL competencies: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making.

    Key Learning Outcomes

     Students will be able to:

    • Design a User Interface (UI): Plan and create intuitive and engaging screen layouts for mobile applications.
    • Apply Foundational Coding Concepts: Utilize basic programming logic (like sequences, loops, and conditional statements) to create interactive app features.
    • Integrate SEL Principles into Design: Translate specific SEL concepts (e.g., mindfulness, empathy, conflict resolution) into practical app functionality.
    • Develop SEL-Focused Apps: Create working prototypes for apps that address student well-being, such as a “Self-Esteem Boosters”, "Mood Tracker," a "Conflict Resolution Chooser," or a "Gratitude Journal."
    • Collaborate and Communicate: Work in teams to brainstorm, peer-test, and present their apps in “Dolphin Tank” environment and with Middle School students.

    Field Trip:

Students will visit the DY Digital Literacy Classroom (Mrs Fratus) to allow middle school students to try their Apps. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
