Mathematics Department Head: Stasia Revere
Our goal for students learning Math at Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School is to assist with the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application to prepare students for college and careers.
Dennis Yarmouth Math Objectives:
- Critical Reasoning: Empowering students to reason abstractly, think logically, and construct viable arguments.
- Problem-Solving: Developing the ability to solve complex, authentic problems using a variety of strategies and tools.
- College & Career Readiness: Ensuring all students are prepared for post-secondary pursuits and 21st-century workforce demands.
- Mathematical Literacy: Promoting conceptual understanding and procedural fluency alongside the ability to communicate mathematical ideas effectively.
- Technological Proficiency: Integrating technology (e.g., graphing calculators, Desmos) as a tool for investigation and modeling.
- Persistence: Encouraging students to persevere through difficulty and learn from mistakes.
- Modeling: Using mathematics to describe and analyze real-world situations.
- Communication: Teaching students to share, listen, and reflect as they collaborate with their learning community.
