Music & Performing Arts
Music and Performing Arts
Department Head/Band: Alex Pendleton
Orchestra: Kerry Cutler
Chorus: Stephanie Riley
Band: Ray Castano
Drama: Samantha McMahon
At Dennis-Yarmouth, we believe every student can participate in music and performing arts. Our program is intentionally designed so students never have to choose between their passions. You can be in Band, Chorus, Orchestra, or Drama and play a varsity sport. You can take AP courses and rehearse for a concert. You can join clubs, pursue athletics, and still perform on stage.
In fact, many of our student-musicians are also dedicated athletes and high-achieving scholars. Our music staff works closely with coaches, club advisors, and administrators to minimize scheduling conflicts and ensure students truly have the opportunity to do it all at D-Y.
Performing Ensemble Courses
Students in grades 8–12 can participate in a wide range of curricular performing ensembles that present concerts at the high school and throughout the community:
-
8–9 Grade Concert Band
-
8–9 Grade Chorus
-
8–12 Grade Orchestra
-
10–12 Grade Concert Band
-
10–12 Grade Chorus
-
10–12 Chamber Ensemble
These ensembles provide structured rehearsal time during the school day and focus on musical growth, performance excellence, and collaboration.
Music & Theatre Courses (No Experience Required)
Our non-performing arts courses are open to students in grades 8–12, and many require no prior musical background. These classes allow students to explore new interests, build foundational skills, and expand their creativity.
