Level Up Your SKills

Ready to Level Up your skills, knowledge, and confidence? These 20–30 minute, Dolphin Time or virtual offerings, give you step-by-step support to build the skills you need to succeed. Each session includes guidance and access to helpful resources and tools. These working sessions will cover topics like resume building, FAFSA ID creation, scholarship strategies, and planning tools for college, training programs, and careers.

Learning Takeaway: Walk away with practical tools, confidence, and action plan to achieve your goals.

RESUME SKILLS LABS

ResuME: Build Your Brand!

Your resume is your opportunity to highlight your strengths and achievements, present your best self and tell your story — what you’ve done, who you are, and where you’re headed.

In this workshop, you will learn how to turn your experiences, activities, accomplishments and skills into a resume — whether you’re applying for college, scholarships, or your first job.

Learning Takeaways: Students will understand how to organize a resume, tailor their resume based on the purpose and brainstorm what they want to put on their resume in order to create a strong first draft.

Who Should Attend? Juniors or seniors who plan to apply to college, a job or a scholarship.

Workshop Level: 1
Students may need to attend more than one working session to complete a strong draft.

Key Activities (20–30 mins):
  • Review resume sections
  • Discuss tailoring resumes for different opportunities (college apps, scholarships, jobs)
  • Provide sample resume for reference
  • Go over Action Verb bank and how to use it
  • Complete Brianstorm Your Resume Worksheet to identify and organize what you want to put on your resume

ResuME: Final Touches

Completed ResuME: Build Your Brand — Now What?
This is your chance to polish your experiences, skills, and accomplishments into a professional, ready-to-submit document — whether it’s for college, scholarships, or your first job.

In this workshop, you will learn how to finalize, format, and refine your resume, making it clear, well-organized, and tailored to you. Students will create a Canva account and explore templates to design a stand out resume!

Learning Takeaways: Students will learn how to format, organize, and polish their resumes using Canva, tailor them for specific opportunities, and apply strategies to create a professional, final version ready for submission.

Who Should Attend? Juniors or seniors who have a draft resume and want to finalize it for college, scholarships, internships, or jobs.

Workshop Level: 2
Students may need to attend more than one working session to finalize their resume.

Key Activities (20–30 mins):
  • Create a Canva account and explore templates to design a professional look
  • Apply learnings to complete a professional resume draft
  • Receive peer or counselor feedback for final resume
  • Share it!

FINANCIAL LITERACY SKILLS LABS

FAFSA ID: Get Started

Your FAFSA ID is the key to accessing and submitting your FAFSA, which opens doors to college financial aid and scholarships. This workshop will guide you step-by-step to create your FAFSA ID safely and correctly.

Learning Takeaways: Students will learn how to create their FAFSA ID, understand its importance, and access the FAFSA portal for college financial aid applications.

Who Should Attend? Seniors planning to apply for college and financial aid.

Workshop Level: 1

Workshop Preparation: Students will need to know or bring their Social Security Number for this lab.

Key Activities (20–30 mins):
  • Understand what a FAFSA ID is and why it’s needed
  • Step-by-step FAFSA ID creation for students
  • Review tips for password security and account recovery
  • Navigate the FAFSA website and locate resources
  • Answer questions and troubleshoot common account issues

Saving & Investing 101 Webinar

Join Jim Curran, Director of Financial Know-How at Cape Cod 5 pm Wednesday, November 12th from 4:00-4:30 pm via Zoom.

This workshop will introduce simple and approachable steps that anyone can take start building healthy saving and investing habits, while improving your overall financial wellness.

Learning Takeaways: Students will learn the importance of both saving and investing and how these habits can support short- and long-term goals. You’ll get an introduction to key financial terms and concepts, while exploring how your mindset and habits influence your financial wellness. By the end of the session, you’ll have practical, actionable steps to start saving and investing, build confidence in your financial decisions, and take charge of your money for the future.

Who Should Attend? Seniors who attended the Credit for Life Fair

Workshop Level: 2
This is a follow up activity for senrios who attended the Credit for Life Fair.

Key Activities: (30 minutes)
  • Psychology & Mindset
  • Importance of both liquidity & investments
  • Explanation of savings and investing terminology
  • Actionable next steps
