At a glance

Hello, Dolphins!

What an incredible week it's been! We are thrilled to share that our recent blood drive, hosted by the National Honor Society, was a resounding success, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our students and community. Additionally, kudos to our students for their stellar performance on the MCAS retakes—your efforts truly shine bright! A huge shout out to our field hockey team for their win on Thursday that brings them to the state finals tomorrow. Details in the athletic section.

Please take a moment to read the important notice from the nurse's office below regarding upcoming vision and hearing screenings for all 10th graders and their teachers. Scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th, from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., students will be called over the PA system by the first letter of their last name. Remember to bring your glasses or contact lenses. Thank you to our diligent Nurse Office Staff for organizing these essential screenings.

Also, don’t miss the attached flyer detailing our exciting upcoming art exhibition—another event where our students’ talents will be on full display!

As the colder weather sets in, I’d like to remind students and families about after-school supervision expectations. Students remaining after school for sports or co-curricular activities must be in the presence of their coach or advisor. Those staying for extra help should have an E-Hall Pass filled out and be with their teacher for the duration. No student is permitted in the building after school without supervision. Refer to the late bus information provided below for late bus information.

We are reaching out to gather support through GoFundMe for families in Eastern Westmoreland, Jamaica—A D-Y High School staff member's beloved hometown, which recently suffered the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. The destruction left countless families in dire need of essential resources. Her mission is to provide relief by shipping non-perishable food, clothing, hygiene products, and first aid supplies to the affected area.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring much-needed relief to those who have lost so much. Your kindness and generosity can make a significant difference in the lives of these families. Thank you for standing with us and supporting our efforts to rebuild and restore hope in Eastern Westmoreland.

Have a wonderful weekend!
