Hello, Dolphins!
We had another great week here at D-Y HS, full of celebrations and accomplishments that highlight the many talents of our students. We kicked off the week with the New Horizons Band performing their holiday concert on Monday. Our seniors enjoyed a winter ice skating event at Tony Kent Arena, continuing to make memories together as graduation approaches. On Thursday, our Art Department hosted a successful opening of the Winter Art Exhibit, showcasing outstanding student creativity. We also marked the 67th day of school with plenty of laughter and great jokes to carry us through the day.
A special shout-out goes to our Music program: Faye Daubert, Nicole Dasilva, Natanael Alcantara Thiele, and Moira Riley all successfully auditioned for the Junior Southeast District Festival and will attend the festival weekend in March. Over 900 students auditioned, and less than half are chosen for spots in five different ensembles, and our students earned a 100% acceptance rate. We are incredibly proud of them!
Each week, I am continually amazed by what our students achieve. Keep up the great work— I can’t wait to see what comes next.
We are officially halfway through Term 2, and progress grades are now available on PowerSchool for students and families to review. With Term 2 ending on January 23rd, this is an important time for students to check in on their academic standing. We encourage all students to revisit the goals they set for this term and make any adjustments needed to stay on track for success.
Enjoy a restful weekend.
