Hello, Dolphins!
Welcome to this week’s newsletter, our first of the new year. I’d like to begin with a few well-deserved shout-outs that highlight the many ways our students and staff are making D-Y a great place to learn.
First, a huge shout-out to our Music Department. Right before break, high school guitar students traveled to Station Avenue Elementary School to perform what they’ve been learning in guitar class. The photo below captures just a glimpse of this wonderful event. Thank you to Station Avenue and to our guitar teacher, Ray Castano, for organizing such a successful and enriching field trip.
Another shout-out goes to Girls Basketball, Unified Sports, and Robotics for being featured in two great articles in the Cape Cod Times. I’m so proud of all the effort and hard work that continues to shine a positive light on D-Y.
The Music Department also deserves recognition for last Thursday’s winter performance. It was very moving and a testament to the dedication and hard work students and staff have put into practicing and truly understanding the music.
We are also excited to recognize several of our Art students. The Cape Cod Cultural Center is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year, and as part of the celebration, D-Y art students are featured in a special exhibit. Be sure to check out the D-Y artwork currently on display by the following artists:
- Cyber Amaral
- Hudson Cambal
- Caoimhe Cogan
- Audrianna Collachan
- Sienna-Grace
- Alan Handrinos Jr.
- Gianni Jones

- Jabari Williams
Finally, we have ACCESS testing taking place over the next couple of weeks. I want to wish all of our students who are testing the very best of luck—you’re going to do great. Please remember to get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast.
Please note that the end of Term 2 also marks the end of Semester 1. For semester-long courses, students will be taking final assessments and receiving final grades. Students will begin their new semester classes at the start of Semester 2.
The last day of Semester 1 is Friday, January 23rd, and Semester 2 begins on Monday, January 26th.
As we approach this transition, please take some time to reflect on the goals you have set for yourself and use these final weeks of the semester to take meaningful steps toward achieving them.
Have a great weekend!
