At a glance

Hello, Dolphins!

February is a month of celebration, reflection, and looking ahead at Dennis-Yarmouth High School. As we honor Black History Month, we are proud to highlight the work of our Voices Heard Club, which is leading the way with a Black History Month Spirit Week, a special guest speaker, and a step performance to celebrate Black heritage, culture, and achievement. We are grateful for the opportunities these events provide our students to learn, honor, and uplift important voices in our community and beyond.

This past week, we also celebrated National School Counseling Week and recognized our incredible school counselors for the vital role they play in supporting our students every day. Their dedication, care, and guidance make a tremendous difference in our building, and we extend a heartfelt thank you to each of them.

Congratulations to Dennis-Yarmouth students Annelise Brown and Kateryna Lazutkina for being selected for the UMass Dartmouth Emerging Young Artists and Designers (EYAD) 2026 Juried Exhibition! This is a wonderful achievement that showcases their talent, creativity, and dedication to the arts. The Art Department invites all students, staff, families, and community members to join in celebrating their work at the exhibition reception tonight, Friday, February 6th at 4:30 p.m. The event will feature a presentation of all exhibiting students’ artwork, remarks from the jurors, and award announcements.

We are excited to congratulate the winner of the Dennis-Yarmouth High School Poetry Out Loud competition, Edyth Sears, who will be competing in the regional competition this Sunday. Please join us in wishing Edyth the best of luck as she represents our school on the regional stage.

Looking ahead, we are thrilled about our upcoming spring events. Our New Student and 7th Grade Spring Showcase will be held on March 4th from 6–8 p.m., and our 7th Grade Step Up Day is scheduled for March 11th. We are also honored to host JC Pohl and TEEN TRUTH for a powerful presentation focused on social-emotional wellness, positive school culture, social media awareness, and self-esteem.

As we move through the winter season, we hope you are enjoying the Winter Olympics and finding inspiration in the athletes’ hard work, resilience, and dedication—qualities we see reflected in our students and staff every day.
