At a glance

Hello, Dolphins!

We’ve had a wonderful week celebrating Black History Month. I want to begin by expressing my gratitude and pride in our students and advisors for organizing our guest speaker, hosting a wonderful Spirit Week and give a special shout-out to the students who contributed to the powerful art installation in the cafeteria, pictured below. This work has sparked meaningful conversations and helped build a stronger sense of community throughout our building.

Thank you as well to all of the students and families who attended the awards ceremony at Monday’s School Committee meeting. It was a wonderful evening, and I am so appreciative to have the opportunity to recognize so many students for their hard work and achievements.

I’m also excited to share important news from the Massachusetts Art Education Association (MAEA). MAEA hosts a juried art exhibit for high school students in grades 9–12, featuring original artwork from students in public and private schools across the state. The virtual exhibit opens on February 27, 2026.
Congratulations to the following Dennis-Yarmouth High School art students for being selected for the online exhibition for the Massachusetts Amazing Emerging Artists Recognitions Exhibit:
  • Ana Santos, Grade 12
  • Kateryna Lazuthina, Grade 12
  • Anelise Brown, Grade 12
  • Logan Joy, Grade 12
  • Camille Dupey, Grade 11
Continuing the excitement, D-Y’s Unified Basketball team recently played Barnstable at TD Garden. The TD Garden media team created a fantastic video highlighting the event. Please click here to view the impressive video.

Finally, I’m pleased to share an exciting leadership opportunity for our students. The Massachusetts Teachers Association is inviting high school students to participate in INSPIRE: The Massachusetts Youth Leadership Institute, a free, full-day program designed to empower students to explore leadership, collaboration, and civic engagement while developing practical skills to create positive change in their schools and communities. INSPIRE will take place on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Worcester State University. This statewide institute will bring together student teams from across the Commonwealth for interactive workshops, hands-on learning, and opportunities to connect with peers and leaders from diverse backgrounds.

Thank you for your continued support of our students and our school community. Enjoy the February break and we'll see students on Monday February 23rd.
