Hello Dolphins,
As we wrap up another busy week at D-Y, I’d like to begin by thanking all who attended our graduation ceremony last Saturday. It was a huge success and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and send off the Class of 2026.
I also want to give a special shout-out to all the students recognized at our Underclassmen Awards Night. It was a great opportunity to honor those who have worked so hard during the school year and to recognize their achievements. We are incredibly proud of your dedication and commitment to excellence.
We were also excited to give our baseball team a proper send-off as they took on Seekonk on Tuesday. It was a tough loss, but the team should be proud of their success this season!
A special shout-out goes to our School to Careers Counselor, Ms. Fedy. I was fortunate to attend my first Learning Walk/Employer Recognition Celebration at the Veterinary Associates of Cape Cod (VACC) and see firsthand our robust student career pipelines in action. VACC has been an incredible supporter of D-Y High School and currently employs five D-Y alumni who first connected with the organization while they were still students. We are proud to call VACC a valued community partner.

In addition, the Massachusetts House of Representatives has passed a bill aimed at protecting young people online and reducing distractions during the school day. The bill will require social media companies to implement age verification systems to prohibit users under age 14 and to require parental consent for users ages 14 and 15. The legislation will also limit the use of personal electronic devices during the school day. School districts must adopt a policy, as determined by the School Committee, prohibiting student use of personal electronic devices from arrival through dismissal and during school-sponsored activities occurring within the school day. Districts must notify families of this policy and ensure that parents remain able to contact their children during the day, and vice versa.
This prohibition may be implemented through:
- Secure storage of personal electronic devices
- Technology that renders personal electronic devices inoperable
- Other methods, subject to DESE approval
We will share more information with families over the summer as implementation guidance becomes available.
We hope you have a great weekend.
