At a glance

Hello Dolphins,
This week began with exciting news: D-Y High School has earned accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). This achievement reflects the dedication of our students, staff, families, and community partners. We are especially proud of NEASC’s commendations recognizing:
  • Our intentional and inclusive engagement of stakeholders in defining essential skills and competencies for graduates;
  • Coursework designed to support college and career readiness;
  • The strong sense of safety and connectedness experienced by students; and
  • Our holistic support systems, which help every student know they belong.
On Tuesday evening, we welcomed families for another successful Open House. Thank you to everyone who attended. We hope the evening provided helpful information about student schedules, course expectations, co-curricular opportunities, and athletics. Families may access the link to the Open House Presentation and the link to Principal Bennett’s opening remarks.

This week also offered our students a meaningful opportunity to serve the broader community. On Wednesday, student-athletes assisted with the construction of The Wall That Heals in Yarmouth. Hosted at Parkers River Landing on Route 28 by the Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center and the Wall That Heals Yarmouth Committee, this traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., provides an opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to honor those who served and sacrificed.
The Wall’s visit is especially significant: it has not been on Cape Cod in more than 20 years, and Yarmouth is the only site in Massachusetts—and in New England—hosting the exhibit this year. For many local veterans who may be unable to travel to Washington, D.C., this event offers a powerful and accessible opportunity for remembrance and reflection.

On Friday, our Social Studies students will visit The Wall That Heals as part of a content-based field trip. At the end of the exhibit, student-athletes will again contribute by helping respectfully disassemble the exhibit. Each of the Wall’s 141 panels weighs approximately 80 pounds and must be carefully carried and placed during both setup and breakdown.

We are tremendously proud of our students for representing D-Y with compassion, respect, and service during this important community event.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Personal Devices

Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School’s personal device requirements are designed to prioritize learning, safety, and meaningful in-person connection throughout the school day. From the time students enter the building until 2:04pm, personal devices must be powered off, stored securely in a bag or backpack, and kept off the student’s person. This includes cell phones, smart watches, tablets, e-readers, computers, and other privately owned portable electronic devices. Students will have access to school-issued Chromebooks and personal headphones for staff-approved instructional purposes, as well as school email and designated school phones for communication when needed. Families may contact the main office in an emergency, while schoolwide and athletic updates will be shared through ParentSquare and Arbiter. Students with documented medical needs may receive a special D-Y Pass for device possession. The district is not responsible for lost or stolen personal devices, and devices observed during the school day will be confiscated and result in disciplinary consequences, including family communication and additional restrictions for repeated concerns. The High School will be following these parameters for the 2026-2027 school year.
