At a glance

Hello Dolphins,

It was another excellent week at D-Y! Our first evacuation drill was a success, and we continue to strengthen our proficiency with the Standard Response Protocol while recording important information in the Raptor Program.

We also held our annual class meetings this week. Every grade demonstrated respect and attentiveness while receiving valuable information. A special shout-out goes to our student body for their outstanding behavior. Please view the Class Meeting Presentations here.

Throughout the week, I had the opportunity to observe many incredible instructional strategies that support our Vision of a Graduate. One memorable highlight was visiting a science class during a sheep brain dissection lab. Students were knowledgeable, engaged, thoughtful problem-solvers, and effective communicators throughout the unique experience.

Next week will be a busy and exciting time at D-Y! We look forward to Spirit Week, home athletic events, Paul Funk’s Dolphin Dash, the vendor fair, the Kids Fun Run, and the Fall Semi-Formal for students in grades 9–12. Spirit Week themes are listed below.

We hope you will join us for these wonderful D-Y events that celebrate and support our school community and students.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

D-Y Student Shout Out!!!

A HUGE Dolphin Way Shout out goes to the entire High School Student body! After class meetings this week, the picture below was taken during the transition between 2nd and 3rd lunch. This was taken after roughly 600 students had eaten lunch and during the 5 minutes transition before the remaining student body entered for 3rd lunch. I'm so proud of our student body and so proud to be your Principal!

Personal Devices

Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School’s personal device requirements are designed to prioritize learning, safety, and meaningful in-person connection throughout the school day. From the time students enter the building until 2:04pm, personal devices must be powered off, stored securely in a bag or backpack, and kept off the student’s person. This includes cell phones, smart watches, tablets, e-readers, computers, and other privately owned portable electronic devices. Students will have access to school-issued Chromebooks and personal headphones for staff-approved instructional purposes, as well as school email and designated school phones for communication when needed. Families may contact the main office in an emergency, while schoolwide and athletic updates will be shared through ParentSquare and Arbiter. Students with documented medical needs may receive a special D-Y Pass for device possession. The district is not responsible for lost or stolen personal devices, and devices observed during the school day will be confiscated and result in disciplinary consequences, including family communication and additional restrictions for repeated concerns. The High School will be following these parameters for the 2026-2027 school year.

Our updated School Improvement Plan reflects our ongoing commitment to student achievement, continuous growth, and a positive learning environment. The plan identifies key priorities, outlines measurable goals, and establishes strategies to strengthen instruction, support student well-being, and deepen our organizational structures to increase effectiveness. Through regular review of data and feedback, we will monitor progress and adjust our efforts to ensure that every student has meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
