At a glance

Hello Dolphins,

What an exciting week at D-Y! Our students showed tremendous creativity, energy, and school spirit throughout Spirit Week. From Adam Sandler Day and Rhyme Without Reason to Your Future Is Bright Neon Day, Anything But a Backpack Day, and Class Colors Day, students found fun and memorable ways to celebrate their D-Y Pride. A huge shout-out to everyone who participated—this was one of the best Spirit Weeks we have seen in a long time!

We also want to congratulate all of our eighth-grade students who delivered speeches and participated in class elections. It takes real courage to stand in front of classmates and share your ideas. Congratulations to those who were elected, as well; representing your class is an important responsibility and a meaningful commitment to the D-Y community.

Thank you to our School and Counseling Department for hosting the Senior Parent Breakfast. Their knowledge, care, and dedication make an enormous difference as they support students and families on the path to graduation.

We are also grateful to the Class of 1966 for its generous donation to the Dolphin Fund. This support helps us respond to a wide range of unexpected student needs and strengthens our ability to care for every member of our school community.

On an academic note, we will reach the half-way point of Term 1 on October 8th. You will be able to view student grades in PowerSchool and know where your student stands at this point in the school year. Students will have the opportunity to receive extra help next before this half way marker.

Today we celebrate our amazing school custodians! A huge D-Y thank you goes to Ms. Mary, and Mr. Brian.Their hard work helps make our school a clean, safe, welcoming place where students and staff can learn and grow. We appreciate all you do—especially the many helpful efforts that happen behind the scenes. Please join us in saying, “Thank you!” to our custodial team!

Finally, we hope to see many members of our community at Paul Funk’s Dolphin Dash and students at the Homecoming Dance this Saturday. Even if you are not running, please come out to support D-Y at the road race. The event includes a kids’ fun run and vendor fair, with proceeds benefiting D-Y student-athletes and students in our music programs. Let’s carry this week’s D-Y Pride into the afternoon athletic events and throughout a wonderful weekend!

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Personal Devices

Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School’s personal device requirements are designed to prioritize learning, safety, and meaningful in-person connection throughout the school day. From the time students enter the building until 2:04pm, personal devices must be powered off, stored securely in a bag or backpack, and kept off the student’s person. This includes cell phones, smart watches, tablets, e-readers, computers, and other privately owned portable electronic devices. Students will have access to school-issued Chromebooks and personal headphones for staff-approved instructional purposes, as well as school email and designated school phones for communication when needed. Families may contact the main office in an emergency, while schoolwide and athletic updates will be shared through ParentSquare and Arbiter. Students with documented medical needs may receive a special D-Y Pass for device possession. The district is not responsible for lost or stolen personal devices, and devices observed during the school day will be confiscated and result in disciplinary consequences, including family communication and additional restrictions for repeated concerns. The High School will be following these parameters for the 2026-2027 school year.

School Improvement Plan
Our updated School Improvement Plan reflects our ongoing commitment to student achievement, continuous growth, and a positive learning environment. The plan identifies key priorities, outlines measurable goals, and establishes strategies to strengthen instruction, support student well-being, and deepen our organizational structures to increase effectiveness. Through regular review of data and feedback, we will monitor progress and adjust our efforts to ensure that every student has meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
