At a glance

Hello Dolphins,

Welcome to another Friday! We were excited to begin the week following an incredible Paul Funk’s Dolphin Dash and a successful Homecoming Dance. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making these events memorable for our students and school community.

This week, we began classroom walkthroughs focused on Grade 8 Amplify curriculum implementation and Tier 1 instructional strategies that support the strategic objectives of our High School Improvement Plan. These visits provide valuable opportunities to observe instructional practices and celebrate the meaningful learning taking place throughout our school.

Members of the administrative team also had the privilege of visiting our Theatre Ensemble class. Students performed original monologues based on interviews with individuals who shared their experiences during the events of September 11. The performances thoughtfully represented the voices and emotions of those interviewed, and our students approached this work with tremendous respect, care, and maturity.

Thursday, October 8, marked the midpoint of Term 1. Progress grades are now available in PowerSchool. Students are encouraged to review their progress, reflect on their goals, and take advantage of available supports—including extra help with teachers—as they continue working toward a successful first term.

Finally, today’s All-Cape Professional Development Day provided educators across Cape Cod with meaningful opportunities for learning and collaboration. D-Y is always proud to be one of the locations for the professional development sessions, and we are grateful for the opportunity for our staff to learn alongside colleagues from across the region.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Personal Devices

Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School’s personal device requirements are designed to prioritize learning, safety, and meaningful in-person connection throughout the school day. From the time students enter the building until 2:04pm, personal devices must be powered off, stored securely in a bag or backpack, and kept off the student’s person. This includes cell phones, smart watches, tablets, e-readers, computers, and other privately owned portable electronic devices. Students will have access to school-issued Chromebooks and personal headphones for staff-approved instructional purposes, as well as school email and designated school phones for communication when needed. Families may contact the main office in an emergency, while schoolwide and athletic updates will be shared through ParentSquare and Arbiter. Students with documented medical needs may receive a special D-Y Pass for device possession. The district is not responsible for lost or stolen personal devices, and devices observed during the school day will be confiscated and result in disciplinary consequences, including family communication and additional restrictions for repeated concerns. The High School will be following these parameters for the 2026-2027 school year.

School Improvement Plan
Our updated School Improvement Plan reflects our ongoing commitment to student achievement, continuous growth, and a positive learning environment. The plan identifies key priorities, outlines measurable goals, and establishes strategies to strengthen instruction, support student well-being, and deepen our organizational structures to increase effectiveness. Through regular review of data and feedback, we will monitor progress and adjust our efforts to ensure that every student has meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
